Reflect on the three stages of a listening lesson
- ss are lack of background of the topic/theme
- pour new words
- can't write answers to the questions
- pictures of clothes
- words of appearance : height / hair / ...
- time
- place
i think the pre - listening stage is most important. because we need to already be familiar the listening task. before class, take a listen to the listening track and ponder these question such as how many people are speaking, what is the topic... so we can easy to recognize the main idea

i can notice for students about slang, advanced level vocabulary..., before class begins, make sure the equipment is working properly. Test the CD or audio track. Also test the volume.
When you are in class, there are several things you need to do before you press play.
I think the pre-listening is the most important because in this stage, students will know the topic of the listening, they can imagine what will happen in the listening and the vocabulary which relate to the listening.
happen in the text and don't know the words relating.
example: temperature, place...
the words: cool, cold, hot.......
If they know the words and the contents of the listening, they will listen clearly.
In my opinion, pre - listening stage is the most important.
if the teacher doesn't introduce the topic and teach some vocabularies, students may find the listening task very difficult.
For example, when you teach the lesson about food, you should ask students to speak out what they know about food, what food is healthy and what food is unhealthy. Teacher also provides students with some more words like poultry, beans, nuts, nutrition, allergy ....
To me, pre-listening is the most important because my students are in mountainous area and they find it hard to study well in this skill.
They have all problems that low -level students usually have such as have limited vocabulary and structure, can't catch up with the speed of the listening....
In pre-listening, students can motivate students, get them interested in the topic of the lesson. Moreover, in this part, teacher can provide and help them understand all the necessary vocabulary and structures, which is very useful in perceiving the lesson.
I think the most important stage of a listening lesson is pre-listening
-Students don't know many vocabularies
- Students do't know topic related to the text
Topic: Jobs
-T teach a lesson about job:
- T asks ss some questions:
+ Can you tell me some jobs that you know
+ What do you do when you do this job?
+ Do you like this job?
+ What do you like in your future?
- I think the most important stage of listening lesson is Pre-listening
- If teacher teaches the Pre stage well so students will be much more interested in the lesson they are going to learn. Students will feel the lesson boring and difficult if teacher doesn't select the suitable pre-activities.
- My class is an example. If the listening lesson start with an interesting warm up activity and a prediction for the topic, students will be more confident to learn.
