Difference between Processing and Understanding Language? The administration of language's structural components and rules, such as grammar, word order, and parsing, is referred to as language processing. This is distinct from language understanding. -By using data and identifying patterns, machines analyze and respond to input. Language understanding entails understanding the meaning, purpose, context, and emotional subtleties of words. - Humans rely on their life experiences, emotional intelligence, and global knowledge, which are qualities that robots have not yet attained. For example, when someone says, "It's freezing in here!" A machine could just record the temperature reference. On the other hand, a person would probably take it as a polite recommendation to turn down the window or change the air conditioner.

Processing language entails identifying and categorizing the units of speech or text such as identifying the words, parsing, and grammatical and sentence structure. This is something that computers and AI models are good at. They are able to disintegrate extremely large linguistic data in a short span of time, separating it into such divisions as nouns, verbs, and clauses.

There is more to knowing language, however. It is about understanding the meaning, will and context of words and this is what human beings instinctively do. Another example would be in order; in comprehending a joke or cultural reference not only would it be necessary to know the words themselves but to interpret those words keeping in mind as to their context.
